มาตรา 29 ผู้ใดต้องโทษปรับและไม่ชำระค่าปรับภายในสามสิบวันนับแต่วันที่ศาลพิพากษา ผู้นั้นจะต้องถูกยึดทรัพย์สินหรืออายัดสิทธิเรียกร้องในทรัพย์สินเพื่อใช้ค่าปรับหรือมิฉะนั้นจะต้องถูกกักขังแทนค่าปรับ แต่ถ้าศาลเห็นเหตุอันควรสงสัยว่าผู้นั้นจะหลีกเลี่ยงไม่ชำระค่าปรับ ศาลจะสั่งเรียกประกันหรือจะสั่งให้กักขังผู้นั้นแทนค่าปรับไปพลางก่อนก็ได้

ความในวรรคสองของมาตรา 24 มิให้นำมาใช้บังคับแก่การกักขังแทนค่าปรับ

Section 29 Whoever is sentenced to a fine and does not pay it within thirty days from the day of judgment shall have his property seized, or claims over his property attached, to pay the fine; otherwise he shall be confined in lieu of the fine. But if the court has reasonable cause to suspect that the person will evade payment, it may require security or order him confined in lieu of the fine in the meantime.

Section 24 paragraph two shall not apply to confinement in lieu of a fine.
